One of Impact’s long time vendors contacted us about reaching out to her client who needed an In-Person and Virtual Events production company. The Public Relations Society of America, Cleveland Chapter, had to transition their annual awards show from an in person gala to a virtual production – fast. Our vendor told them, “the only people I trust to handle this kind of work is Impact.” With gratitude for the referral, we followed up on the opportunity, created our proposal to serve as the event’s production sponsor, won the job and set out to produce a show that would wow attendees, even as they watched from their computer screens. It all came about thanks to a good relationship with our vendor.
The PRSA was new to Impact in the fall of 2020 when we partnered with them to produce their Cleveland Rocks Awards. Creating a virtual production was an altogether new and admittedly daunting prospect for the organization. No matter what it would take, it had to be special. All of their members and especially their nominees worked hard to create quality communications for their clients. They deserved a night that celebrated their award-worthy achievements.
Our account team, producers and cinematographers met with this new client and really got to know them and what they were hoping to deliver to their virtual audience. We brought ideas and shared ways to execute their concepts. Our expertise earned their trust.
As production sponsors, we created and hosted the event website, which is the show portal. The site offered attendee registration, reminder e-mails and push notifications to keep the event top of everyone’s mind. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum would remain as the venue, so our teams conducted Covid-safe video shoots to bring the Rock Hall experience to the audience, creating pre-recorded content with museum curators, event sponsors and PRSA leadership from inside different exhibits and galleries. These videos were edited as were archival musical performances from the Rock Hall’s greatest jam sessions. And what a perk it was to produce remote recordings with celebrity award presenters from Sirius XM Radio’s Classic Rock and Classic Rewind (without a doubt, Downtown Julie Brown is still rocking).
All of these video elements along with custom-created graphics were edited together into the final program that was streamed to attendees. The show was an overwhelming success. Attendees loved the experience and appreciated the ways we were able to infuse the night with interactivity that made them feel part of the performance. The PRSA team was thrilled.
Serving as the production sponsor opened doors for Impact, introducing us to companies who may not have known about our capabilities. We were encouraged to enter our production of the 2020 event in this year’s competition.
Although the event returned to in-person attendance in 2021, PRSA brought Impact back to produce the sponsor videos that played during the presentation. And in what might be the most unexpected reward of this new partnership, Impact brought home the 2020 Gold award in the category, Events, Non-Profits. What an honor.
I started this blog by saying “a long time vendor” brought us this opportunity. Without a good relationship with this person, we might not have heard about this project, might never have had the chance to meet and work with some of Cleveland’s finest communicators and certainly wouldn’t have this beautiful crystal award to remind us of the power of building rock solid and lasting relationships to grow our business. We are thankful!
