GE Digital Virtual User Conference
Impact delivered a three-day meeting to a global audience through a robust virtual platform
Generating the synergy of a live gathering through a wide range of engaging interactive opportunities.
The Project
The GE Digital User Conference is General Electric’s three-day meeting to introduce current and prospective customers to the company’s software products. An international roster of attendees participated in the 2020 event from a virtual platform Impact created, keeping participants and GE presentation teams safe and socially distanced – some, continents apart. Nevertheless, the virtual conference production delivered the same quality content and high level of engagement as the live events of the past. Attendance was more than triple for what was typical for a live event.

Our Process
Impact worked with GE Digital, merging their creative components with our technology to produce a virtual digital conference with global reach. We created a custom website that included attendee registration plus security tools that prevented competitors from registering for the conference. The site also included a detailed meeting agenda, information on all speakers and complete session descriptions. This let attendees filter and source by categories to custom-create the conference program that best suited their needs. We recorded 45 breakout sessions with industry experts from around the world – a true feat of time zone manipulation. These videos were edited, graphically enhanced and played back live during the virtual meetings held in North and Central America, Europe and Asia. All sessions (including live) were simultaneously translated to four languages to engage the broadest possible audience. During these sessions, the speaker was available to engage in live Q&A with the attendees, with Impact hosting and quality monitoring these audio-only Zoom Room events.
We supported client-created content such as the GE Exhibit Hall, helping facilitate this tradeshow so experts could chat with potential customers. Impact provided all staging and technical direction for all three show days. We coached their presenters and tested their equipment, helping them look and sound their best. An Impact team manned help desk operations to provide attendees with real-time technical assistance. One of the most popular components of the three-day event was the scavenger hunt. More than 400 attendees sought codes hidden on the website, in exhibits and during sessions to collect points. Ten lucky winners won prizes but the real winners were the attendees who experienced a virtual conference that exceeded their expectations.
